MyChart is free for patients and supports appointments, results, messages, medication refills, records, bills and family access.

Independent-site warning: MyChart-Health.org is not Northeast Georgia Health System, Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Longstreet Clinic, Good News Clinics or Epic. Never enter your username, password, activation code, one-time verification code, Social Security information, insurance card or payment information into this article.

NGHS MyChart Is More Than One Hospital Portal

Northeast Georgia Health System is a not-for-profit community health system serving Northeast Georgia. Its current MyChart login screen lists NGHS, Longstreet Clinic and Good News Clinics as organizations served by the portal.

Northeast Georgia Health System

The portal supports care connected with NGHS entities such as Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Northeast Georgia Physicians Group and Georgia Heart Institute where the feature is enabled.

Longstreet Clinic

Do not assume the Longstreet name on the MyChart screen means you opened the wrong portal. NGHS’ current portal explicitly lists Longstreet Clinic.

Good News Clinics

Good News Clinics also appears on the current organization list. Available portal features still depend on the patient’s record and organization.

Practical check: the login screen should say Northeast Georgia Health System and use the domain mychart.nghs.com. Similar-looking “Georgia MyChart” portals can belong to unrelated systems.

Use the Right Official Page for the Job

NGHS MyChart Signup: Activation Codes Last Only 14 Days

Patients may be enrolled at a clinic or hospital, receive a code on an After Visit Summary or billing statement, receive a text/email activation link, or use online self-signup.

14 days Activation-code validity
1 use Code becomes invalid after activation
Up to 1 week Manual signup verification
$0 MyChart account fee

If you have an activation code

  • Open NGHS’ official MyChart signup flow.
  • Enter the code only on mychart.nghs.com.
  • Create your own permanent username and password.
  • Remember that the activation code expires after 14 days.
  • The code cannot be used again once activation is complete.

If you do not have a code

NGHS allows online signup using information that matches the medical record and may use third-party identity verification.

If instant verification is unsuccessful, the current signup page says the request can be sent to the clinic and may take up to one week. Once approved, an activation code is sent by email or letter.

Do not submit repeated signup requests if you already had MyChart. Use account recovery first. Duplicate requests can make a simple forgotten-login problem harder to understand.

NGHS Requires Two-Factor Authentication

NGHS began requiring two-factor authentication on June 8, 2025. After entering your username and password, MyChart asks for a one-time identity-verification code.

Current verification methods

  • Email security code.
  • SMS/text security code.
  • Authenticator app.
  • Mobile biometric login after setup.
  • Four-digit app passcode after setup.

Trust this device

On the verification screen, NGHS says the Trust this device option can remember the device for 90 days.

Use this only on a private device that you control. Do not trust a public, workplace-shared or borrowed device.

No verification text after 5–10 minutes? NGHS’ current 2FA instructions say to text START to 318362, wait for the opt-in response, then return to MyChart and retry the login.

If an email verification code does not arrive, check spam/junk first. If it is still missing, call MyChart Customer Support at 770-219-1963.

Forgot Username, Password or Got Locked Out?

Use the recovery link below the official login fields

Choose Forgot Username or Forgot Password instead of repeatedly testing old credentials.

Complete two-step verification

NGHS uses 2FA during username/password recovery to verify that the request is really yours.

Reset the password online when the portal permits it

MyChart Patient Support can troubleshoot login problems, but NGHS notes that the support team does not simply read or send you your existing password.

Locked account

Email MyChart.Support@nghs.com or call 770-219-1963 to request account reactivation.

Logged out while reading? NGHS automatically logs users out after about 15 minutes of keyboard inactivity. That security timeout is not the same as an account lockout.

Schedule an Appointment Without Guessing the Visit Type

NGHS publishes the current MyChart scheduling route as: Menu → Schedule an Appointment under Find Care.

Start with provider or reason for visit

MyChart can ask you to choose a provider or reason for care, followed by the location, appointment time and additional requested details.

Review before finalizing

On the final Verify and schedule step, NGHS says you may see pre-visit instructions, a copay amount and an option to be notified if an earlier appointment becomes available.

Useful shortcut: do not pick an inaccurate visit reason just to force an appointment onto the calendar. If the provider or correct reason is not offered, call that office so the appointment is scheduled with the right timing and clinical preparation.

Test Results May Appear Before Your Provider Reviews Them

NGHS says most results are released as soon as they become available. This means a patient may see a result before the healthcare provider has reviewed it.

What happens after automatic release

After the provider reviews the result, additional interpretation or comments may appear. If you need clinical interpretation, contact the provider’s office rather than relying only on a number or flag shown on screen.

Want individual result alerts again?

NGHS says some communication settings were changed to send one daily notification for new results rather than a separate alert for each result. Results themselves can still be visible as soon as they are released.

Notification options can be adjusted in Menu → Communication Preferences.

Message Your NGHS Provider and Add an Attachment

Website workflow

  1. Sign in to NGHS MyChart.
  2. Find the Care Team section on the home page.
  3. Locate the provider.
  4. Select the envelope icon beside that provider.
  5. Choose the medical-question category.
  6. Write the message and send.

Mobile-app workflow

  1. Open Messages.
  2. Choose Send a Message.
  3. Select Medical Question.
  4. Select the question type and recipient.
  5. Write and send the message.

Need to send an image or document that the care team requested? NGHS says the message composer includes a paper-clip attachment option.

Normal reply window: about 1–3 business days. Do not send emergencies or rapidly worsening symptoms through MyChart. Call the physician office for immediate clinical needs and call 911 for an emergency.

Download NGHS Medical Records Through MyChart at No Cost

NGHS says MyChart is the quickest option for many record requests and that patients can access records through MyChart at no cost. Its records guidance covers NGMC campuses, NGPG, Georgia Heart Institute, New Horizons, Hospice of NGMC and other supported NGHS entities.

Open Document Center

Sign in, open Menu, then find Document Center under My Record.

Select Visit Records

Choose a visit date or use the available date-range option.

Request the download

Select Download, then choose Request on the Download My Record screen.

Open the completed download

NGHS explains that the download can arrive as a zipped document folder. Open the folder and select the PDF containing the requested medical record.

Medical Records office

Phone: 770-219-0500

Published office hours:
Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:15 p.m.
Holiday hours may vary.

When MyChart is not enough

Proxy forms and NGHS record documents make clear that MyChart does not necessarily contain the complete contents of the medical record. Use Health Information Management when you need records not available through the portal.

Share a Record for One Session With Share Everywhere

NGHS also supports Epic’s Share Everywhere feature when you need to give another healthcare professional temporary access to information visible in MyChart.

Create the share code

  1. Open Menu.
  2. Find Share Everywhere under Sharing.
  3. Enter the recipient’s name.
  4. Select Request share code.

The code is intentionally short-lived

NGHS says the recipient uses the patient’s birth date plus the generated code at Share Everywhere.

The share code expires after 60 minutes and allows a limited single-session view.

Need the Actual Radiology Images? Use the PowerShare Route

A radiology report and the actual image files are not the same thing. NGHS currently uses Nuance PowerShare Mobile for patient access to certain radiology images.

Request a PowerShare access code from MyChart

  1. Open the MyChart Message Center.
  2. Choose Send a Message.
  3. Choose Ask a customer service question.
  4. Select Non-Billing Help-NGHS/NGPG/GHI.
  5. Use the subject PowerShare images.
  6. Include the type of imaging test, the test date and the email address where the access code should be sent.

Once accessed in PowerShare, NGHS says images can be downloaded to your device or sent to others.

NGHS Proxy Access Changes When a Child Turns 13

Parents, spouses and caregivers should use authorized proxy access rather than sharing another person’s private username and password.

NGHS MyChart proxy access by patient age
Patient Proxy access Important rule
Age 0–12 Parent/legal guardian can receive full MyChart proxy access. The parent accesses the child’s chart through the parent’s own MyChart account.
Age 13–17 Default parent access becomes limited because of adolescent privacy rules. Basic access can support immunizations, appointment scheduling and messaging; parents do not get the same automatic access to results/appointment details.
Age 13–17 with consent Enhanced/full access can be granted. The adolescent must sign the enhanced consent.
Turns 18 Previous minor proxy access automatically ends. The adult patient must grant adult proxy access unless legal guardianship documentation applies.
Adult An adult can grant full proxy access to a spouse, domestic partner, adult child or caregiver. Current adult proxy authorization remains until the patient revokes it.

Where proxy forms can be returned

NGHS’ current MyChart FAQ accepts proxy forms by:

  • Email: MyChart.Support@nghs.com
  • Fax: 770-219-2667
  • Health Information Management: 3137 Frontage Road, Oakwood, GA 30501
  • Or return the form to the clinic when instructed.

The current minor proxy form says electronic signatures are not accepted on the form. It also requires separate information for each minor patient.

Link Other MyChart Records With Happy Together

If you have been seen at another participating health organization, NGHS says MyChart may allow you to link that record using Epic’s Happy Together feature.

Information that may appear

  • Allergies
  • Care team
  • Health issues
  • Medications
  • Messages
  • Test results
  • Visits

Linking does not merge the organizations

Outside information can appear in one MyChart view, but the other hospital still has its own billing, proxy, support and clinical policies.

NGPG and Georgia Heart Institute Video Visits

Northeast Georgia Physicians Group and Georgia Heart Institute currently publish video-visit guidance that uses MyChart as part of the virtual-visit workflow.

Before the appointment

  • Use a device with a camera and microphone.
  • Have email access available.
  • Install Zoom ahead of time when instructed by the office.
  • Test the internet connection, camera and microphone.
  • Choose a quiet location with reliable connectivity.

At appointment time

NGHS says patients may launch Zoom through their MyChart account after the visit has been arranged by the provider’s office.

Current guidance recommends joining 15 minutes early so there is time to resolve camera, microphone or connection problems.

If the video connection fails, NGHS directs patients to call the doctor’s office. Do not spend the entire appointment troubleshooting alone while the clinical team is waiting.

NGHS MyChart Billing: Online, Guest Pay, Phone and Mail

Pay inside MyChart

  1. Open Menu.
  2. Choose Billing Summary.
  3. Select the green Pay now button.
  4. Pay the full balance or use the “other amount” option where available.
  5. Enter payment information and submit.

NGHS says MyChart can accept credit/debit card payment and payment directly from a bank account.

Pay without logging in

Pay as Guest uses the guarantor name and guarantor account number shown on the statement.

One guarantor can have several individual visit accounts, each with its own balance.

Pay by phone

770-219-8420

Live assistance:
Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m.

Pay by mail

Separate bills are possible. NGHS says you may receive additional bills from physicians or specialists involved in care, such as emergency or radiology providers. Match the provider/entity name before assuming two bills are duplicates.

Want paper statements? Sign in → Menu → Billing Summary → choose the Cancel paperless billing link.

Price Estimates: What the MyChart Estimator Does Not Include

NGHS provides a MyChart price-estimator tool for many shoppable services, but it does not contain every service performed by the health system.

MyChart estimator

If you have a MyChart account, signing in can save time by using insurance information already on file.

Human estimate support

Patient Access Service Center:
770-219-7678

Published hours:
Weekdays, 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.

NGHS says a hospital estimate may not include separate pathology, anesthesia, physician or other professional charges. Insurance coverage and the actual course of care can also change the final amount.

NGHS’ current 2026 price-transparency page says standard prices for the same service are the same across its five NGMC hospitals: Gainesville, Braselton, Barrow, Habersham and Lumpkin. That still does not mean each patient’s final out-of-pocket amount will be the same.

Financial Assistance Can Be Started Through MyChart

NGHS offers financial-assistance resources for eligible uninsured and underinsured patients who need help with medically necessary care.

Financial Navigation

Phone: 770-219-1898

NGHS says printed application and policy copies can also be requested from the Financial Navigation Department.

Digital application

NGHS currently promotes MyChart as a faster digital route for eligible financial-assistance applications and document submission.

Follow the Financial Assistance option shown in the current portal and respond to any requests for documentation through the secure MyChart workflow.

Upload a Digital Insurance Card Before a Visit

NGHS’ current MyChart FAQ allows patients to upload insurance-card photos instead of waiting until check-in to discover that an old card is still on file.

Get images of both sides

Download your insurer’s digital card or take clear screenshots/photos of the front and back.

Open Insurance Summary

In MyChart go to Menu → Insurance Summary.

Add or replace card photos

Choose Add Insurance Card Photos for a new plan or Replace Insurance Card Photos for an update.

Upload front and back, then submit

Review both images and use Submit to save the files.

NGHS MyChart Mobile App

Use Epic’s official MyChart app and select the Northeast Georgia Health System organization. Avoid unofficial APK sites or lookalike patient-portal apps.

NGHS’ security page says supported mobile devices may use fingerprint or Face ID, a four-digit passcode or an authenticator app after those options are configured.

2026 NGHS Text Messages Now Come From 318362

Beginning May 20, 2026, NGHS moved patient texts from a traditional phone number to the six-digit short code 318362.

Messages can include

  • Appointment reminders
  • Test-result notifications
  • Prescription updates
  • MyChart alerts
  • Billing notifications

Why this matters for 2FA

If a MyChart verification text does not arrive after 5–10 minutes, NGHS now instructs patients to text START to 318362.

This 2026 short code is more current than older NGHS MyChart instructions that referenced a traditional phone number for text opt-in.

MyChart Signup Video Linked by NGHS

NGHS’ official MyChart information page links patients to this MyChart signup tutorial. It is useful for understanding the general mobile-enrollment flow. For NGHS-specific activation, 2FA and support rules, follow the current NGHS instructions in this article and on mychart.nghs.com.

This video is included because NGHS links to it from its current official MyChart resource page. No unrelated hospital tour, influencer video or unverified third-party tutorial is embedded here.

NGHS MyChart Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the official NGHS MyChart login website?

Use mychart.nghs.com. The current portal identifies Northeast Georgia Health System and also lists Longstreet Clinic and Good News Clinics among the organizations it serves.

2. How long is an NGHS MyChart activation code valid?

NGHS says an activation code expires after 14 days and is no longer valid after it has been used once. If your code expired or was lost, request another one through signup or contact MyChart Support.

3. Does NGHS MyChart require two-factor authentication?

Yes. NGHS made two-factor authentication required beginning June 8, 2025. After username/password login, you must verify your identity using a one-time code or another configured verification method.

4. Why am I not receiving the NGHS MyChart verification text?

NGHS says to wait about 5–10 minutes. If the code still does not arrive, text START to the current NGHS short code 318362, wait for the opt-in response, then retry MyChart. Call 770-219-1963 if the problem continues.

5. Why did NGHS MyChart log me out after I stepped away?

NGHS automatically ends a MyChart session after about 15 minutes of keyboard inactivity to protect patient information.

6. How long should I wait for a reply to an NGHS MyChart message?

NGHS says patients generally receive a reply within one to three business days. MyChart should not be used for emergencies or medical problems requiring immediate attention.

7. What happens to parent MyChart access when an NGHS patient turns 13?

Full parent access for a child age 0–12 changes when the child turns 13. Adolescents age 13–17 can grant basic or enhanced access, and enhanced access requires the adolescent’s consent. At age 18, the previous minor proxy normally ends.

8. Can I download my NGHS medical records through MyChart?

Yes. NGHS says MyChart is the quickest no-cost route for many records. Use Menu → Document Center → Visit Records, select the relevant visit/date range, request the download and open the PDF in the downloaded folder.

9. Can I pay an NGHS bill without signing into MyChart?

Yes. NGHS provides Pay as Guest using the guarantor name and account number from the statement. Signing in provides additional tools such as payment history, saved payment methods and eligible payment-plan options.

10. Can I link another hospital’s MyChart account to NGHS MyChart?

Sometimes. NGHS supports Epic’s Happy Together feature for participating healthcare organizations. Linked information can include allergies, care team, medications, messages, test results and visits, but each health system keeps its own billing, proxy and support rules.
