Southcoast Health MyChart is the secure patient portal used across Southcoast Health in southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Patients use it for test results, appointments, secure messages, prescription renewals, eCheck-In, billing, medical records, wait-list offers and family proxy access.
This guide focuses on the tasks that usually cause trouble: finding the correct login, waiting for a new account, replacing an expired activation code, understanding mandatory two-factor authentication, managing a teen’s record, getting an earlier appointment, requesting formal records and recognizing Southcoast’s new 2026 text-message number.
Quick answer: use mychart.southcoast.org for Southcoast Health MyChart. MyChart Patient Support is 1-844-265-9857 and helpdesk@southcoast.org. Southcoast requires two-factor authentication, and since July 14, 2026 its general patient text communications use short code 639104 and the new phone number 508-970-9470.
Privacy first: MyChart-Health.org is an independent informational website. It is not Southcoast Health, Epic or the official patient portal. Do not enter your password, activation code, verification code, medical-record number, Social Security information, insurance details, test results or payment information into this article.
Use the Right Southcoast MyChart Route
Login, signup, proxy access, record corrections and billing are different workflows. Start with the page that matches the task rather than entering private information into a generic web form.
| Need | Official route | Useful detail | If it does not work |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign in | Southcoast MyChart login | Expect mandatory two-factor authentication. | Use the official recovery option or call 1-844-265-9857. |
| New account | Self-signup | Southcoast says self-signup is not instantaneous and may take 5–7 days. | Ask your Southcoast Physicians Group office or MyChart Support. |
| Activation code | Official MyChart signup/access workflow | Activation codes expire after 30 days and become invalid after first use. | Call 1-844-265-9857 for a replacement code. |
| Proxy or caregiver access | MyChart Access Request | Child, teen, adult caregiver and reduced-capacity access use different forms. | Use the contact details listed on the applicable authorization form. |
| Billing | Southcoast bill pay | MyChart supports digital payments and interest-free payment plans. | Call Patient Accounts at 508-973-1212. |
| Formal medical records | Requesting Medical Records | MyChart requests are handled through the Document Center. | Health Information Management: 508-973-3700. |
How to Log In Safely and Complete Two-Factor Authentication
Open the official Southcoast portal
Confirm the address is mychart.southcoast.org. The official login page requires JavaScript and cookies.
Enter your username or Epic ID and Southcoast password
The current login screen supports a traditional MyChart username or an Epic ID for users who already configured MyChart Central.
Choose text or email for your security code
Southcoast Health requires two-factor authentication. The portal remembers the verification method selected for future logins.
Trust only your own device
The official login screen specifically warns against trusting public computers. If you trust a private personal device, Southcoast says verification is generally required only twice a year on that device.
Use recovery if credentials fail
Use the official Forgot login information? option rather than repeatedly trying old passwords or asking an unofficial support service to unlock the account.
Automatic logout: Southcoast says MyChart logs users out after about 15 minutes of keyboard inactivity. If you return to a login screen after stepping away, sign back in instead of assuming the portal failed.
Signup Is Not Instant: What Southcoast Says to Expect
Southcoast offers several legitimate ways to get a MyChart account, including enrollment during care and online self-signup.
You can request access during care
Southcoast lists enrollment during:
- A visit with a Southcoast Physicians Group provider.
- A visit to Charlton Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department.
- A visit to St. Luke’s Hospital’s Emergency Department.
- A visit to Tobey Hospital’s Emergency Department.
Online self-signup can take 5–7 days
Southcoast’s official MyChart page explicitly warns that self-signup is not instantaneous and can take up to 5–7 days. Do not create repeated signup requests simply because an account was not available immediately.
Activation-code rule: Southcoast says a code expires after 30 days and becomes invalid once it has been used. Call the MyChart Patient Support Line at 1-844-265-9857 if the code was lost, expired or never received.
Southcoast Changed Its Patient Text System in July 2026
Beginning July 14, 2026, Southcoast Health moved patient text communication to a new platform. This matters because an older saved short code or phone number may no longer be the best way to identify a current Southcoast message.
Save the new Southcoast number
Southcoast recommends saving 508-970-9470 so current calls and two-way communications are easier to recognize.
Update the mobile number inside MyChart when necessary
Open the MyChart menu, go to Settings → Personal Information, select Edit under Contact Information, change the mobile number and save.
Control message types
Go to Settings → Communications Preferences. Southcoast lists Appointments, Messages, Health, Billing, Questionnaires, Account Management, News and Announcements, Telehealth and To Do as configurable notification topics.

Southcoast supports Apple Health integration for iPhone and CommonHealth integration for Android.
Appointments: Fast Pass, Wait Lists and Direct Scheduling
Southcoast has added appointment tools that are easy to miss if you only use MyChart for results.
Fast Pass can offer an earlier appointment
You must already have an eligible scheduled appointment and be on the wait list. Southcoast can send the offer through the MyChart app, text or email.
3.5-hour rule: when a Fast Pass offer arrives, Southcoast says you have 3.5 hours to accept it before the offer expires. Declining keeps the original appointment.
Fast Pass is currently described for selected specialty and new-patient visits, plus certain primary-care Medicare, wellness, physical and new-patient visits.
Add yourself to or remove yourself from the wait list
- Sign in to MyChart.
- Select Visits.
- Find the scheduled appointment.
- Select Details.
- Look under Prepare for Your Visit.
- Select Get off the Wait List to leave it.
- Use Get on the Wait List to opt back in.
Southcoast asks patients to cancel through MyChart or call the office no later than 48 hours before the appointment when possible.
Before You Leave Home: MyChart Can Handle Part of Check-In
Use eCheck-In before the visit
- Confirm personal information.
- Review medications.
- Review allergies.
- Complete available questionnaires/forms.
- Pay an available copayment online.
Still prepare for the physical visit
Southcoast’s appointment guide recommends bringing:
- Photo identification.
- Current insurance card(s).
- Copayment or payment when applicable.
- Current medications in their bottles.
- Medical-history form and previous records when applicable.
Southcoast recommends arriving about 15 minutes early when possible. If you are running late, call the office instead of relying only on a portal message.
MyChart Messages: Southcoast’s Rules Are More Specific Than Most Portals
Southcoast’s current MyChart FAQ says replies are generally received within 1–3 business days. Its newer MyChart Messaging Guidelines advise that messages may take up to 3–5 business days. For planning purposes, allow the longer window and call the office if you need a response sooner.
| Rule | Southcoast guidance | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Keep it short | Focus on one or two issues; Southcoast recommends no more than about 500 characters. | Complex questions may need a telehealth or in-person visit. |
| Do not over-message | Send no more than one message per day per provider unless the care team instructs otherwise. | Multiple messages can slow routing and response. |
| Recent relationship | Southcoast’s messaging guideline says you can message the care team if you have had an office visit within the past 12 months; otherwise call the office. | Messaging is intended for an established clinical relationship. |
| Photos | Do not send photographs unless the clinical team specifically asks for them. | A photo may not be appropriate or sufficient for clinical assessment. |
| Possible charge | A message exchange may be billed to insurance when the clinical response requires more than five minutes of team time. | Southcoast says patients will be notified in advance if charges may occur; copays or deductibles can depend on insurance. |
MyChart messaging is not an emergency response system. Call 911 or seek immediate medical care for emergencies or rapidly worsening symptoms.
Do not ask about another family member from your own chart. Southcoast warns that the message would become part of the wrong patient’s medical record. Switch to the approved proxy record first.
Test Results, Shared Notes and Missing Information
Southcoast says patients have electronic access to shared clinical notes and released results. Federal information-blocking rules generally favor timely electronic access, but there are exceptions.
Results can appear before a detailed explanation
A notification means the information has been released to MyChart; it does not always mean you have already discussed the result with the ordering clinician.
Some information can be excluded
Southcoast specifically notes exceptions such as inpatient psychotherapy notes and certain records created in anticipation of litigation.
Something is wrong in the chart? Contact the provider’s office so the underlying electronic medical record can be corrected. Southcoast’s system-wide contact page lists Medical Records and MyChart Corrections at 508-973-3700. Its MyChart FAQ also directs patients with inaccurate health information to Health Information Management.
Proxy Access Changes at Age 12 in Massachusetts and Rhode Island
Southcoast’s proxy rules are strongly influenced by Massachusetts and Rhode Island minor-consent and privacy laws. This is one of the most important provider-specific details on the page.
| Patient situation | Access type | Important detail |
|---|---|---|
| Child under 12 | Parent/legal guardian application. | A separate application is required for each child; both parents can request access on the same application. |
| Age 12–17 | Limited Teen Proxy Access unless reduced-capacity rules apply. | Standard pediatric proxy changes automatically the night before the child’s 12th birthday. |
| Teen’s own account | Age 12–17 self-access request. | Southcoast provides a process requiring signed parental/legal-guardian consent. |
| Reduced-capacity patient | Full-access application for the responsible caregiver/guardian. | Separate reduced-capacity forms exist for children/teens and adults. |
| Adult-to-adult caregiver | Caregiver proxy for spouse, parent or adult child. | Each adult should have their own login rather than sharing passwords. |
Southcoast says spouses cannot share one MyChart account. Proxy access lets a caregiver enter through their own account and then switch to the authorized family member’s record.
Southcoast MyChart App, Apple Health and CommonHealth
Official MyChart mobile app
Download Epic’s MyChart app from Apple App Store or Google Play, then connect it to Southcoast Health.
Apple Health integration
Southcoast says iPhone users can combine information such as allergies, conditions, immunizations, lab results, medications, procedures and vital signs in Apple’s Health app.
CommonHealth for Android
Southcoast supports CommonHealth for Android users who want to collect records from participating healthcare organizations and share them with services they trust.

Southcoast MyChart FAQs
1. What is the official Southcoast Health MyChart login website?
Use mychart.southcoast.org. Southcoast Health’s official patient-portal pages link to that domain. Enter passwords and verification codes only on the official portal or official MyChart app.
2. How long does Southcoast MyChart online signup take?
Southcoast says self-signup is not instantaneous and can take up to 5–7 days. You can also request enrollment during visits with Southcoast Physicians Group or at the emergency departments of Charlton Memorial, St. Luke’s or Tobey Hospital.
3. How long is a Southcoast MyChart activation code valid?
Southcoast says an activation code expires after 30 days and cannot be reused after it has already been used. Call MyChart Patient Support at 1-844-265-9857 for a replacement.
4. Does Southcoast MyChart require two-factor authentication?
Yes. Southcoast’s current portal requires two-factor authentication using a security code delivered by text or email. The login page also allows a personal device to be trusted; Southcoast says trusted personal devices generally need re-verification twice a year.
5. What is Southcoast Health’s current text-message short code?
Beginning July 14, 2026, Southcoast moved patient text communications to short code 639104 and introduced communication phone number 508-970-9470. Text HELP to 639104 for message support or STOP to opt out.
6. How long can a Southcoast MyChart message take to get a reply?
Southcoast’s MyChart FAQ says replies are generally received within 1–3 business days, while its newer messaging guidelines advise allowing up to 3–5 business days. Call the provider’s office if you need an answer sooner; do not use MyChart for emergencies.
7. How long do I have to accept a Southcoast MyChart Fast Pass appointment?
Southcoast says an eligible Fast Pass offer remains available for about 3.5 hours. Accepting moves you to the earlier appointment; declining lets you keep the originally scheduled visit.
8. Why did my full parental MyChart access change when my child turned 12?
Massachusetts and Rhode Island laws protect certain types of confidential adolescent care. Southcoast says pediatric proxy access automatically changes the night before a child’s 12th birthday to Limited Teen Proxy Access unless a different authorized arrangement applies.
9. How long does a routine Southcoast medical-record request take?
Southcoast says routine medical or billing record requests generally require about 5–7 business days. Patients can request records through the MyChart Document Center or use the alternate authorization process when MyChart is unavailable.
10. Can I turn Southcoast paperless billing off?
Yes. Southcoast says patients can opt out in MyChart by opening View Bill, selecting Account Info, scrolling to Paperless Preferences and changing the paperless setting. Billing questions can be directed to 508-973-1212.
