MyChart Stormont Vail: Login & Patient Portal Guide

Stormont Vail MyChart is the secure patient portal for Stormont Vail Health patients, including care connected with the Topeka and Flint Hills regions. It can be used for test results, messages, medications, appointments, bills, Fast Pass, virtual care, MyChart Bedside and selected medical-record tasks.

This guide focuses on completing real patient tasks: getting into the correct portal, recovering access, understanding two-step verification, joining virtual care, getting an earlier appointment, paying safely, requesting records, managing family access and finding the right local support department.

Choose the task first

Quick answer: use the official Stormont Vail MyChart portal at mychart.stormontvail.org. Stormont Vail currently lists its MyChart Patient Support Line as 866-456-7319 and publishes mychart@stormontvail.org for MyChart support. The portal also provides account recovery, online signup, Pay as Guest and patient estimates.

Privacy rule: MyChart-Health.org is an independent informational website. It is not Stormont Vail Health, Epic or the Stormont Vail MyChart portal. Do not enter your password, activation code, verification code, Social Security information, medical-record details, insurance information or payment information on this website.

Use the Right Stormont Vail MyChart Route

Logging in, creating an account, paying without an account and requesting a cost estimate are separate workflows. Use the task-specific official route instead of entering private information into a generic form found through search.

How to Log In Without Making an Account Problem Worse

Start from the official domain

Open mychart.stormontvail.org and check the browser address before entering credentials. Stormont Vail’s login page requires JavaScript and cookies.

Use your current account credentials

The current page accepts a MyChart username or Epic ID and password. A passkey can also be used if it was previously configured.

Complete the second verification step

Stormont Vail says two-step verification can use a code delivered by email, text message or an authenticator app.

If the credentials fail, switch to recovery

Use the official “Forgot login information?” route instead of repeatedly trying old passwords or creating a duplicate account.

Expect automatic logout after inactivity

Stormont Vail currently says MyChart automatically signs a user out after about 10 minutes of inactivity.

Sign out when finished

This matters especially on a shared household computer, workplace computer or device that another person can unlock.

Stormont Vail MyChart Signup and Activation

Stormont Vail describes several enrollment routes. Clinic staff may enroll a patient during a visit; an activation code may appear on an After Visit Summary or billing statement; a code may be sent after a visit; or a patient may use online self-signup.

If you received an activation code

  • Open the official Stormont Vail MyChart portal.
  • Use the activation route shown by the portal.
  • Enter the code only on the Stormont Vail MyChart domain.
  • Create your personal account credentials.
  • Complete the security options requested by the portal.

If you do not have an activation code

Use Stormont Vail’s online signup. The health system says self-signup can match information against the medical record or use third-party identity verification.

Activation code not working? Stormont Vail does not publish one universal expiration length in its current FAQ. It says codes expire after a set period and are no longer valid after first use. Request another code from signup, email mychart@stormontvail.org or call 866-456-7319.

Two-Step Verification, Recovery and Lockout Help

Common account-access problems
Problem Stormont Vail guidance What to do
No verification code Stormont Vail recommends checking spam/junk folders, using Resend Code and checking other email accounts that may be on file. Call 866-456-7319 if the account does not have a usable email/contact method.
Forgot login information Account recovery uses two-step verification to confirm identity. Start with the official recovery link below the login fields.
Account locked Stormont Vail directs locked-out users to MyChart Patient Support. Call 866-456-7319 or email mychart@stormontvail.org.
Phone/email changed The Personal Information page can update address, phone, email, preferred name and other account details. Update these details while you can still access the account.
Legal name changed Stormont Vail routes legal-name-change requests to MyChart support. Email mychart@stormontvail.org or call 866-456-7319.

What You Can Actually Do in Stormont Vail MyChart

Stormont Vail’s current MyChart pages and patient resources describe a much broader portal than a simple lab-results screen.

Visits Schedule, review, reschedule or cancel supported appointments
Results View most test results when released
Messages Non-urgent care-team communication
Billing Statements, payments, estimates and selected payment plans

Health information

Review medications, allergies, test results, health issues, visits and other selected medical information.

Medications

Review medication instructions and request eligible refills.

Fast Pass

Join a waitlist and accept an earlier appointment when an eligible opening becomes available.

Virtual Care

Access selected video care and E-Visit workflows when eligible.

Bedside

During a hospital or Emergency Department stay, see care-team and visit information in the app.

Proxy access

Allow an approved adult to access another patient’s information through their own account.

Linked records

Eligible records from another healthcare organization may be linked through MyChart’s connected-record tools.

Estimates

Use patient estimates before selected hospital procedures and services.

MyChart is not the complete legal medical record. Stormont Vail’s terms say MyChart reflects selected portions of the health record. Use Release of Information when you need a formal copy that is not available in the portal.

Appointments and MyChart Fast Pass

Fast Pass is especially useful when you already have an appointment but would prefer an earlier opening. Stormont Vail says offers are first-come, first-served, so notification settings matter.

For a new appointment

Ask to join the waitlist while the appointment is being scheduled when the option is available.

For an existing appointment

  1. Sign in to MyChart.
  2. Select Visits from the home page.
  3. Open the upcoming appointment.
  4. Select the option to Opt into offers / join the waitlist when shown.
  5. Keep MyChart notifications enabled.
  6. If an earlier opening arrives, log in and accept it before another patient does.

If no earlier offer appears, your original appointment remains important. Fast Pass watches for cancellations/openings; it does not guarantee that an earlier time will become available.

Stormont Vail Virtual Care: Three Different Workflows

“Virtual care” does not mean one single service at Stormont Vail. The health system currently describes on-demand video care, scheduled video visits and asynchronous E-Visits.

Stormont Vail virtual-care options
Option How it works Current timing / response Best next step
Virtual Care Day & Night Qualifying Stormont Vail primary-care patients with MyChart can request an on-demand video visit without a scheduled appointment. Stormont Vail currently lists Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Sign in and choose the Virtual Care option shown in MyChart.
Scheduled video visit A care team schedules an online appointment for a new concern or follow-up. Use the appointment time given by the care team. Prepare camera, microphone, speakers and internet before the visit.
E-Visit Answer a questionnaire in MyChart; no live video or phone call is required. Requests are currently accepted Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; Stormont Vail says a reply usually comes in 1-2 business days. Menu → E-Visit, or Messages → Send a message → Start an E-Visit.

Before a video visit

  • Use a phone, tablet or computer with working audio and video.
  • Use a stable internet connection.
  • Choose a private, quiet space.
  • Use an updated browser/app.
  • Close other apps that may be using the camera or microphone.
  • Open MyChart early enough to resolve login problems before the visit.

Virtual Care and E-Visits are not emergency services. Stormont Vail specifically advises calling 911 or going to the Emergency Room for serious symptoms such as chest pain or trouble breathing.

MyChart Bedside During a Stormont Vail Hospital Stay

MyChart Bedside is not a separate app. Stormont Vail says it becomes available inside the MyChart app during an eligible Emergency Department visit or hospital stay.

What Bedside can show

  • Your current care team.
  • Visit schedule and details.
  • Medications and test results.
  • Care plan and educational materials.
  • Forms and electronic documents.
  • Updates that may be shared with family/loved ones.

It can also help with small inpatient needs

Stormont Vail says Bedside can support selected non-urgent comfort requests, such as asking for water or blankets.

If you already have MyChart, the feature should become available automatically during an eligible stay.

Test Results, Messages, Medications and Personal Information

Test results can arrive quickly

Stormont Vail says most results can be viewed as soon as they become available. You may therefore see a result before the healthcare provider has reviewed it. Provider comments or interpretation may appear later.

Messages are not instant

Stormont Vail says patients generally receive a response to provider messages within 1-3 business days. Use another care route when the medical issue cannot wait.

Medication refills

MyChart can request refills for eligible medications, but a request can still require provider review, labs or an appointment.

Update ordinary personal details

Stormont Vail says the Personal Information page can update address, phone number, email address, preferred name and other contact details.

Legal name changes use support

For a legal-name-change request, Stormont Vail directs patients to mychart@stormontvail.org or 866-456-7319.

Wrong clinical information? Stormont Vail says MyChart reflects information from the electronic medical record. If a medical fact is inaccurate, discuss the correction with the provider; formal amendment forms are also available through Stormont Vail’s patient forms.

Proxy and Family Access: Use Permission, Not Password Sharing

Stormont Vail’s current MyChart FAQ says proxy access can allow another person to view a family member’s medical information with permission. The proxy must be at least 18 years old.

Invite an adult family member or helper

  1. Sign in to your own Stormont Vail MyChart account.
  2. Open the Friends and Family Access area.
  3. Send the proxy invitation using the patient’s account.
  4. The proxy accepts access.
  5. The proxy then uses their own MyChart username/password rather than yours.

Stormont Vail also publishes paper forms

The current patient-forms page includes forms for minors, adults and situations involving diminished capacity. Use the appropriate current form when the electronic invitation process does not fit the situation.

Spouses cannot simply share one MyChart account. Stormont Vail’s current FAQ says each person needs their own account. Approved proxy access is the safer and auditable way to help another adult.

Need the Full Medical Record? Use Release of Information

MyChart can show selected health information, but Stormont Vail’s current privacy notice provides separate Release of Information contacts for formal record copies.

Privacy or amendment issue rather than a normal record request?

Stormont Vail publishes patient amendment, restriction, audit and accommodation forms. Its HIPAA Privacy Office is 785-354-6343, with fax 785-354-6398.

Billing: MyChart, Guest Pay, Phone, Mail and Prompt Pay

Stormont Vail provides several payment routes. You do not have to use MyChart if another official method is easier.

Pay through MyChart

Sign in when you want to view your own account information, payment history or other billing tools tied to the patient account.

Pay as Guest

Use the official guest-payment page when you have the billing information needed to make a payment but do not want to sign in.

Pay by phone

Pay by mail

This payment address is not the same as the Topeka hospital address.

Prompt Pay can reduce an eligible processed balance

Stormont Vail currently says that after insurance processes the claim, patients who qualify for the Prompt Pay offer can pay 90% of the total account balance and Stormont Vail will write off the remaining 10%.

Ask Customer Service whether the account is eligible before assuming the discount applies.

Estimate the Cost Before Care

Stormont Vail recommends its Guest Estimates feature for an easier patient-facing estimate instead of trying to interpret the hospital’s raw machine-readable charge files.

If you already have MyChart

Sign in for the most personalized estimate because MyChart can use insurance information already connected to your account.

If you do not want to sign in

Use Guest Estimates and select where the procedure is planned. The final amount can still change based on insurance and the services actually provided.

Need a more specific procedure estimate? Stormont Vail advises obtaining the procedure or CPT code from the ordering physician when possible. Customer Service can assist at 785-354-1150.

Self-pay and No Surprises Act estimates

Stormont Vail’s current billing page explains that self-pay patients may receive a Good Faith Estimate for scheduled services under the federal No Surprises Act. The health system says estimates are generally sent within 1-3 days of scheduling when the federal requirements apply.

Financial Assistance and Current 2026 Application Resources

Stormont Vail maintains a Financial Assistance Program for patients who are financially unable to pay for emergency or other medically necessary care. The current official page includes updated 2026 policy, application and provider-coverage documents.

Start with Customer Service

English: 785-354-1150 or 800-637-4716

Stormont Vail also provides assistance in Spanish through its published billing contacts.

Use the current application—not an old PDF from search

Stormont Vail’s official financial-assistance page identifies the latest English and Spanish policy, application instructions, application, discount information and provider-coverage list. This matters because eligibility documents are periodically updated.

Practical approach: if a bill is unaffordable, ask about financial assistance and payment options before ignoring the balance or relying on an old eligibility table found elsewhere online.

Stormont Vail MyChart Mobile App

Stormont Vail uses Epic’s MyChart app rather than a separate Stormont-only patient-record app. After installing MyChart, make sure the selected organization is Stormont Vail Health.

Apple devices

Download MyChart from Apple’s official App Store.

Android

Download the Epic MyChart app from Google Play.

Choose Stormont Vail Health

Stormont Vail’s published mobile instructions tell users to use Switch Organizations and select Stormont Vail Health. This is especially useful if you have more than one MyChart account.

Stormont Vail supports mobile Face ID/fingerprint login where the device and app allow it. Its current MyChart FAQ also describes passkey login as another secure sign-in option.

Multiple health-system accounts

Stormont Vail’s FAQ says eligible information from another healthcare organization may be linked into MyChart using the connected-record feature commonly called Happy Together. Linked information can include allergies, care team, health issues, medications, messages, test results and visits.

MyChart Privacy, Text Messages and Safe Account Habits

Stormont Vail may text about several account tasks

Its current messaging terms say patient texts may include:

  • Billing notifications.
  • Appointment and visit updates.
  • MyChart-account information.
  • One-time passcodes.
  • Prescription reminders.

Control communication preferences carefully

Stormont Vail says patients can opt out of text messages by replying STOP. Its terms also describe MyChart communication preferences and the Helpdesk at 785-354-5430 for messaging assistance.

Safer account habits

  • Start from stormontvail.org or mychart.stormontvail.org.
  • Keep activation and one-time verification codes private.
  • Never share a MyChart password with a caregiver.
  • Use proxy access instead.
  • Use account recovery from the official portal.
  • Sign out on shared devices.

Know what becomes part of the record

Stormont Vail’s terms say communications sent through MyChart can become part of the patient’s health record. Use the correct patient’s chart and avoid sending another person’s medical question from your own account.

Emergency rule: Stormont Vail says MyChart is not designed for urgent or emergency medical needs. Call 911 or go to an emergency department for a medical emergency. For urgent but non-emergency care, contact the physician’s office or another appropriate care service.

MyChart use is voluntary. Stormont Vail’s terms say patients are not required to use MyChart. If online access is not practical, use the appropriate phone, clinic, billing or medical-record route.
