McLeod MyChart: Login & Patient Portal Guide
McLeod MyChart is the current Epic-based patient portal used across McLeod Health. Patients use it for appointments, test results, prescription refills, messages, bills, estimates, records, family access and other account-specific tasks.
One detail matters before almost everything else: McLeod changed electronic health-record and patient-portal systems on December 3, 2022. A current MyChart bill or record request may therefore follow a different route from older McLeod information.
Quick answer: the official current portal is www.mcleodmychart.org. McLeod’s current MyChart FAQ lists the Patient Support Line at 843-777-5377 and myrecords@mcleodhealth.org for portal help. Use the account-recovery option instead of repeatedly guessing a password: McLeod’s published terms say access can be disabled after five failed login attempts.
Privacy boundary: MyChart-Health.org is an independent informational website. It is not McLeod Health, Epic or the McLeod MyChart portal. Do not enter a password, activation code, one-time verification code, Social Security information, insurance ID, medical details or payment information on this website.
The McLeod Portal Changed on December 3, 2022
McLeod Health moved to the Epic electronic health record and launched McLeod MyChart on December 3, 2022. That cutover explains why older McLeod links and balances sometimes do not appear in the current MyChart account.
Use current McLeod MyChart
Current bills, account activity and Epic-era patient information generally start with McLeod MyChart.
Use the legacy patient-services route
McLeod maintains a separate legacy page for older appointments, records, bill payment and estimates. Older balances may not be reviewable or payable in current MyChart.
Useful billing shortcut: before assuming a bill is missing from MyChart, check its date of service. McLeod’s current billing page explicitly separates services dated on/after December 3, 2022 from services provided before that date. Billing help is 843-777-2955.
Use the Official Route That Matches the Task
McLeod’s patient-services page separates account access, hospital records, physician-office records, billing, insurance and estimates. Treating all of these as one “patient portal” task creates unnecessary transfers and failed forms.
| Need | Official route | Prepare this | If it fails |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign in | McLeod MyChart login | Your MyChart username/Epic ID and password, or a passkey if previously configured. | Use “Forgot login information?” before making repeated attempts. |
| New account | McLeod MyChart signup | Patient name, address, date of birth, legal sex, last four SSN digits, email and phone information requested by the current form. | Call 843-777-5377 if McLeod cannot verify the information. |
| Recover account | Account recovery | Access to the contact method associated with the account. | Email myrecords@mcleodhealth.org or call 843-777-5377. |
| Pay current bill without login | Pay as Guest | Guarantor name and guarantor account number shown on the statement. | Call Business Services at 843-777-2955. |
| Hospital medical records | Hospital records instructions | Signed authorization, recipient information and the McLeod hospital involved. | Call the facility-specific Medical Records department listed below. |
| Physician-office records | McLeod Patient Online Services | Select the separate “Request Physician Office Medical Records” route. | Contact the physician practice rather than a hospital HIM office. |
| Cost estimate | Guest Estimates | Procedure location and service; insurance details are useful for individualized estimates. | Business Services can help at 843-777-2955. |
How to Log In to McLeod MyChart Safely
Open McLeodMyChart.org
Start at the official McLeod MyChart domain rather than a copied login form, search advertisement or unexpected account-reset message.
Confirm cookies and JavaScript are available
The official login page requires both. McLeod’s FAQ recommends a current browser such as Edge, Chrome, Firefox or Safari.
Use your username/Epic ID and McLeod password
The current portal also supports a passkey for users who previously configured one. On supported mobile devices, biometric login may be available through the MyChart app.
Complete two-step verification when prompted
McLeod says the second factor can be delivered through email, text message or an authenticator app.
Use recovery if credentials fail
Do not keep testing old passwords. McLeod’s published portal terms list five failed login attempts as a reason access may be disabled.
Expect a short inactivity timeout
McLeod’s current FAQ says users who remain idle for 10 minutes or more are automatically logged out.
McLeod MyChart Signup: What the Current Form Actually Requires
Patients can be enrolled by clinic staff, receive an activation code after a visit, or use online self-signup. McLeod’s live signup page is especially useful because it explains what happens when automatic verification succeeds—or does not.
Information shown on the current signup form
- First, middle and last name.
- Address.
- Date of birth.
- Legal sex.
- Last four digits of Social Security number.
- Email address and email confirmation.
- Home phone.
Enter this information only on the official McLeod portal. This independent article does not collect identity-verification data.
What happens after submission
McLeod’s current signup page says processing and verification can take up to a week. When approved, the patient receives an email or letter containing an activation code and instructions.
If an existing account is found, the portal directs the user toward login recovery rather than creating another account.
Third-party identity verification
The current signup workflow can verify identity through a third-party verification system. The portal says the questions are generated to confirm identity and that the clinic does not store the information used by that verification system.
You can skip immediate third-party verification
McLeod’s current form presents an option to skip third-party verification and verify identity at the next appointment. The patient still needs to confirm contact information with a one-time code.
Age requirement: McLeod’s patient-portal terms state that a person must be 16 or older to request their own MyChart account. Family members helping another patient should use approved proxy access.
No activation code? McLeod’s current FAQ says you can request one from the signup page or email myrecords@mcleodhealth.org. It does not publish a fixed universal number of days that every activation code remains valid; it says the code expires after a set period and becomes invalid after it is used.
Account Recovery, 2-Step Verification and Lockout Rules
| Problem | McLeod detail | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Forgot username/password | Recovery uses two-step verification to verify identity. | Use “Forgot login information?” on the official login page. |
| No verification code | McLeod advises checking spam/junk, using Resend Code and checking other email accounts that may be on file. | Call 843-777-5377 if no valid email/contact method is on the account. |
| Locked out | Published terms identify five failed login attempts as a possible reason for disabled access. | Call 843-777-5377 or email myrecords@mcleodhealth.org. |
| Logged out unexpectedly | Automatic logout occurs after about 10 minutes of inactivity. | Sign in again; do not leave a portal session open on a shared device. |
| Phone/email changed | The current FAQ says Personal Information can update address, phone, email, preferred name and other contact details. | Update information while you still have account access, especially before recovery is needed. |
| Legal name changed | McLeod directs legal-name-change requests to Patient Support. | Email myrecords@mcleodhealth.org or call 843-777-5377. |
What You Can Do in McLeod MyChart
McLeod describes MyChart as its primary patient tool for appointments, care-team communication, prescriptions and medical bills. The current portal and official help resources support a wider set of practical tasks as well.
Appointments
Schedule supported visits and review upcoming or past appointment details.
Test results
View most results when released, often before the provider has reviewed them.
Messages
Use available care-team messaging for non-urgent communication.
Prescription refills
Request eligible refills and receive follow-up in the portal.
Health information
Review medications, allergies, health issues, visits and care-team information.
Family access
Manage another patient’s care only through approved proxy access.
Billing
Review eligible balances, make payments and access payment-plan information.
Linked records
McLeod supports linking eligible MyChart records from other organizations through Happy Together.
MyChart is not the entire legal medical record. McLeod’s terms say the portal provides portions of the electronic health record and may not contain every test result or document. Use the formal Medical Records process when something important is absent.
Test Results, Messages and Prescription Refills
Results can arrive before interpretation
McLeod’s current FAQ says most test results can be viewed as soon as they become available. Patients may see them before the healthcare provider has reviewed them. Provider comments or interpretation may appear later.
Message replies are not immediate
The current McLeod FAQ says patients generally receive a response within 1–3 business days. Portal messages should not be used when the situation requires immediate attention.
Refills can still require a visit
An online refill request is a request—not an automatic approval. Provider review or an appointment may be required for some medications.
Information looks wrong? McLeod says medical information in MyChart comes from the electronic medical record. The current FAQ advises asking the provider to correct inaccurate medical information at a clinic visit. Personal contact details can be updated from the Personal Information area.
If you use a McLeod Choice Pharmacy
McLeod Health says its outpatient pharmacy services are integrated with Epic/MyChart, allowing eligible prescription management and refills within the connected system. Phone refills are also available through the Florence pharmacy at 843-777-2166 and Seacoast at 843-366-3107.
Appointments, Pre-Visit Tasks and McLeod MyChart Video Visits
McLeod’s patient materials describe MyChart as more than an appointment list. Depending on the visit and practice, it can also handle pre-visit information, questionnaires, scheduling and video-visit preparation.
| Task | What to check | Useful habit |
|---|---|---|
| Upcoming visit | Appointment date, time, clinic/location and instructions. | Verify the location before driving because McLeod operates multiple hospitals and practices. |
| eCheck-in / pre-visit work | Demographics, insurance, questionnaires and other tasks shown for that visit. | Complete available tasks before arrival instead of waiting at registration. |
| Schedule/request visit | The appointment types made available for your account. | Call the clinic when the needed visit type is not offered online. |
| Scheduled video visit | Camera, microphone, internet connection and visit instructions. | Test the device before appointment time rather than troubleshooting after the visit starts. |
Do not confuse a scheduled MyChart video visit with McLeod TeleHealth Convenient Care. They are related to virtual care but are not the same workflow.
McLeod MyChart Video Visit vs McLeod TeleHealth
| Virtual option | Best match | How it starts | Technical help |
|---|---|---|---|
| MyChart video visit | A video appointment connected with the McLeod care team and your MyChart visit. | Follow the appointment/video instructions inside your MyChart account. | MyChart Patient Support: 843-777-5377 for portal-access problems. |
| McLeod TeleHealth Convenient Care | McLeod’s separate on-demand online provider service. | McLeod’s TeleHealth FAQ describes Convenient Care as a 24/7 on-demand service with no appointment required. | TeleHealth technical support: 855-955-0948. |
McLeod MyChart Family and Proxy Access
Proxy access is the proper route for a parent, adult child, spouse, close friend or caregiver. McLeod’s current FAQ says a proxy must be at least 18 years old, and spouses should not share one MyChart account.
Invite a family member or trusted helper
- Sign in to your own McLeod MyChart account.
- Open the sharing/family-access area available in MyChart.
- Use the Friends and Family Access option.
- Enter the invitee information requested by the portal.
- Confirm the access level before sending the invitation.
- The invited person accepts and uses their own MyChart login.
Do not solve family access by sharing a password
- Each spouse needs a separate MyChart account.
- The proxy uses their own account credentials.
- The patient can grant access with permission.
- Access can be changed or revoked through the appropriate MyChart process.
- Use the correct patient’s chart before messaging or managing care.
Teen transition: McLeod’s current patient materials explain that parent access changes as a child reaches the older-teen account threshold. McLeod’s portal terms allow a patient to request their own account beginning at age 16. If a parent’s existing access no longer shows the same information, use McLeod’s current proxy instructions rather than sharing the teen’s login.
Medical Records: Hospital Records and Physician-Office Records Are Separate
McLeod’s Patient Online Services page provides separate routes for hospital records and physician-office records. This distinction matters when you need a complete formal record rather than whatever is visible inside MyChart.
Before filling out a form: decide whether the records were created during a McLeod hospital encounter or by a McLeod physician office. Starting with the wrong request route can slow down the release.
Hospital-record request
- Complete McLeod’s Authorization Form.
- Sign and date the form.
- For a child under 18, the parent/legal guardian signs and dates it.
- Include the destination address, email or fax number.
- Include a telephone number where Medical Records can reach you.
- Send the request to the correct hospital Medical Records department.
Sending records to another physician
McLeod asks patients to provide the physician name and address when records are being sent to a doctor’s office. McLeod says its staff will contact that office to determine exactly what information is needed.

McLeod Billing: Check the Date Before Looking for a Balance
McLeod’s billing transition is one of the most useful local details on this page: current and legacy bills are intentionally separated by service date.
| Bill date | Use this route | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Service on/after Dec. 3, 2022 | Current McLeod MyChart / Pay as Guest | Current Epic/MyChart-era billing is handled through the newer system. |
| Service before Dec. 3, 2022 | Legacy McLeod Patient Online Services | Older balances may not appear for review or payment in current MyChart. |
Pay while signed in
Use MyChart when you want account-specific balances, available payment-plan information and payment history.
Pay as Guest
McLeod’s Guest Pay page explains that the guarantor is the person financially responsible for the bill. The guarantor name and account number are found on the statement.
Need a human
McLeod Business Services lists 843-777-2955 for bill-payment help and insurance questions.
One bill can contain multiple visit accounts. McLeod’s Guest Pay page explains that a visit account groups charges for billing, usually around one visit. A patient can have multiple visit accounts with separate balances.
McLeod Cost Estimates: What to Have Ready
McLeod provides both a MyChart Guest Estimates route and its Patient Self-Service Estimator. An estimate is planning information, not a guarantee of the final bill.
For an individualized estimate, prepare
- The McLeod hospital where care is planned.
- Your insurance company.
- Group plan number.
- Policy ID or member ID.
- The planned service or procedure.
How the estimate is calculated
McLeod says insured estimates can use real-time benefit information to estimate patient responsibility. For uninsured patients, estimated out-of-pocket cost is based on the applicable self-pay discount or amount generally billed for hospital services.
Why the final bill can differ: the actual services, tests, supplies, physician involvement and clinical circumstances may change. McLeod expressly states that estimator output is not a guarantee of the amount ultimately charged.
Uninsured or not using insurance? Good Faith Estimate rights may apply
McLeod’s No Surprises Act page says uninsured patients have a right to a Good Faith Estimate for scheduled care. It lists different delivery timelines depending on how far in advance care is scheduled. Financial Counseling can answer estimate questions at 843-777-8550.
Accepted insurance
McLeod publishes its current accepted-plan list online, but plan participation and individual benefits can change. McLeod tells patients to understand their network, deductible, copay, referral and coverage requirements. Insurance questions can be directed to 843-777-2955, weekdays 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Financial Assistance Can Be Started Through McLeod MyChart
McLeod Health says financial assistance may be available to patients who are uninsured, underinsured, ineligible for government assistance or otherwise unable to pay for medically necessary care based on their financial situation.
Apply online through MyChart
McLeod’s financial-assistance page specifically states that an application can be made by logging into McLeod MyChart.
Or use the published application and policy
McLeod also provides a Financial Assistance Policy Summary, full policy and downloadable application on its official website. Eligibility depends on the individual financial situation and the services involved.
Do not wait for a balance to become confusing. If you know payment will be difficult, review assistance and payment options early. Business Services can help at 843-777-2955, and McLeod’s No Surprises page lists Financial Counseling at 843-777-8550.
McLeod MyChart App, Passkeys and Linked Health-System Accounts
Official MyChart app
Download the Epic MyChart app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, then select McLeod Health as the organization.
Biometric / passkey login
McLeod’s current FAQ says mobile users may be able to use Face ID or fingerprint login, and the current web portal supports passkey sign-in for users who have configured it.
Records from other organizations
McLeod’s current FAQ describes the Epic feature often called Happy Together, which can link eligible information from other healthcare organizations, including allergies, care team, health issues, medications, messages, results and visits.
Organization selection matters. Seeing the generic Epic MyChart app does not mean every account is the same. If McLeod information appears missing, confirm that McLeod Health is the selected organization before assuming the medical record has disappeared.
McLeod MyChart and Patient Support Numbers
Portal access, billing, TeleHealth and Medical Records are different departments. The quickest route depends on what is actually wrong.
| Need | Contact | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| MyChart Patient Support |

| Emergency | 911 / nearest emergency department | A medical or psychiatric emergency. Do not use MyChart messaging. |
McLeod Health Is a Network—Check the Facility Before Driving
A McLeod MyChart appointment can belong to a hospital, physician practice or other McLeod location. The portal account is system-wide; the appointment address is not.
| Facility | Area | Main phone |
|---|---|---|
| McLeod Regional Medical Center | Florence | 843-777-2000 |
| McLeod Health Darlington | Darlington | 843-777-1100 |
| McLeod Health Dillon | Dillon | 843-774-4111 |
| McLeod Health Loris | Loris | 843-716-7000 |
| McLeod Health Seacoast | Little River | 843-390-8100 |
| McLeod Health Cheraw | Cheraw | 843-537-7881 |
| McLeod Health Clarendon | Manning | 803-433-3000 |
Before leaving home: open the actual appointment in MyChart and confirm the facility, street address, time and any pre-visit instructions. Do not use the flagship hospital address simply because the account says “McLeod Health.”

Privacy and Portal Safety
Protect the account
- Do not share the MyChart username or password.
- Keep one-time codes and activation codes private.
- Use account recovery only from the official portal.
- Sign out before leaving a shared computer.
- Keep the email address and phone used for two-step verification secure.
Remember what email notifications can reveal
McLeod’s portal terms point out that an email alert may not contain the medical information itself, but another person with access to the inbox could still learn that new medical information exists.
Emergency rule: McLeod explicitly states that the patient portal is for non-emergency and non-urgent purposes. For a medical or psychiatric emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
Using MyChart is optional. McLeod’s portal terms state that patients are not required to use MyChart to receive care. If online access is difficult, use the clinic, Business Services or Medical Records contact route that matches the task.

McLeod MyChart Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the official McLeod MyChart login website?
Use www.mcleodmychart.org for the current McLeod Health MyChart portal. The official portal provides login, signup, account recovery, Pay as Guest and Guest Estimates.
2. Why is my old McLeod bill not showing in MyChart?
McLeod changed to Epic and McLeod MyChart on December 3, 2022. McLeod’s billing page separates services dated on or after December 3, 2022 from services provided before that date. Older balances may need the legacy patient-services route instead of current MyChart.
3. How long can online McLeod MyChart signup take?
McLeod’s current signup page says processing and verification may take up to a week. When approved, the patient receives an email or letter containing an activation code and instructions.
4. What should I do if my McLeod MyChart activation code expired or does not work?
McLeod says an activation code expires after a set period and becomes invalid after it is used. Request another code from the official signup page, email myrecords@mcleodhealth.org or call 843-777-5377.
5. Can five failed McLeod MyChart login attempts lock my account?
McLeod’s published portal terms list five failed login attempts as a reason account access may be revoked or disabled. Use official account recovery rather than repeatedly guessing, and call 843-777-5377 if the account is locked.
6. Why did McLeod MyChart log me out after I stepped away?
McLeod’s current FAQ says MyChart automatically logs users out after 10 minutes or more of inactivity. This is a privacy measure; sign in again to continue.
7. How long does McLeod say a provider message normally takes to receive a reply?
McLeod’s current MyChart FAQ says patients generally receive a response within 1–3 business days. Messages should not be used for urgent situations or emergencies.
8. Can my spouse or caregiver use my McLeod MyChart username and password?
No. McLeod says spouses need separate MyChart accounts, and approved caregivers should use proxy access. A person receiving proxy access must be at least 18 years old.
9. Where should I request McLeod medical records if they are not all visible in MyChart?
First determine whether you need hospital records or physician-office records because McLeod provides separate request routes. Hospital record requests use the Authorization Form and the facility-specific Medical Records department; physician-office requests start from McLeod Patient Online Services.
10. Is a McLeod MyChart video visit the same as McLeod TeleHealth Convenient Care?
Not necessarily. A MyChart video visit can be tied to a scheduled McLeod appointment, while McLeod describes TeleHealth Convenient Care as a separate 24/7 on-demand service with no appointment required. TeleHealth technical support is 855-955-0948.
