UofL MyChart: Login & Patient Portal Guide

UofL MyChart: Login & Patient Portal Guide

UofL Health MyChart is primarily the patient portal for UofL Physicians and many outpatient services, including UofL Health – Urgent Care Plus. It can be used for appointments, results, messages, prescription renewals, billing, e-check-in and family access.

The part that trips up many Louisville patients is that UofL Health also operates a second portal called MyHealthNow for UofL Hospital, Jewish Hospital, Brown Cancer Center, Frazier Rehab and other hospital-based care. This guide starts by helping you choose the right portal.

Hospital results • facility visits • medications • hospital bills

Some hospital-based clinics can generate both a facility bill and a UofL Physicians provider bill. That is why one episode of care can involve both portal/billing systems.

Quick answer: use mychart.uoflhealth.org when your care was through UofL Physicians or a service that uses the UofL Physicians MyChart record. UofL Health currently lists MyChart Patient Support at 502-588-7005 and MyChartSupport@UofLHealth.org. For hospital and medical-center records, UofL Health often directs patients to MyHealthNow instead.

Privacy boundary: MyChart-Health.org is an independent informational website. It is not UofL Health, UofL Physicians, UofL Hospital, Epic or MyHealthNow. Do not enter usernames, passwords, activation codes, one-time codes, Social Security information, medical-record information or payment details on this article.

First Decision: UofL MyChart or MyHealthNow?

UofL Health explicitly says it operates two different patient portals. You may even need both if you receive care in a UofL Physicians office and later receive hospital-based care at a UofL Health facility.

Hospital-based clinic warning: UofL Health says some hospital-based clinics use MyHealthNow even though a physician component may still appear in MyChart. The same visit can also generate a UofL Health facility bill and a separate UofL Physicians professional bill.

Which Official UofL MyChart Link Should You Use?

Official UofL Physicians MyChart routes
Task Official route What you need What happens next
Sign in UofL MyChart login Your existing MyChart username/Epic ID and password. Use your record, appointments, messages, results or billing.
Create account MyChart signup Personal/contact information matching the UofL Health record. Verify identity immediately or allow the request to be reviewed by the clinic.
Activate existing invitation Activation route A valid UofL Health activation code/link. Create the account credentials; the code becomes unusable after activation.
Forgot username/password Account recovery Account-identifying information requested by the secure portal. Recover access instead of creating a duplicate account.
Pay physician bill without login MyChart Pay as Guest Guarantor name/account number from the statement. Complete payment on the secure UofL MyChart payment page.

UofL MyChart Signup: What the Official Form Actually Does

UofL Health offers both activation-link enrollment and online self-signup. The signup workflow is more specific than simply “enter your email.”

Open UofL Health’s own signup page

Use the official Sign Up route at mychart.uoflhealth.org. Do not submit identity information through a directory, comment form or copied login page.

Enter information that matches the medical record

The current UofL signup form can ask for name, address, date of birth, legal sex, last four digits of Social Security number, email and phone information. Enter those details only on the official UofL Health portal.

Choose how to verify identity

UofL Health currently uses a third-party identity-verification option powered by Experian Precise ID. The signup page states that the third-party questions themselves are not stored at the clinic.

You can skip instant third-party verification

The official signup workflow offers a “Skip third-party verification” option. UofL says you can verify identity at a later appointment, while still confirming contact information through the portal’s one-time-code process.

If the automatic match fails, the clinic can review the request

UofL Health says a submitted request may take up to one week for processing and verification. After approval, an activation code and instructions may be sent by email or mail.

Existing-account clue: if UofL’s signup system says an account already exists for the person, use Forgot login information? rather than creating another portal account.

UofL’s current signup page says the instant third-party identity-verification service requires the user to be 18 or older. UofL’s legal MyChart terms also state that personal MyChart accounts are intended for adults or legally emancipated minors.

Activation Code, Timeout and Login Security Rules

What You Can Do in UofL Physicians MyChart

Test results

UofL’s MyChart FAQ says most routine laboratory results are released right away, at the same time they are sent to the provider.

Imaging and sensitive tests

Some x-rays, imaging studies and sensitive laboratory results may take 2-7 days to appear.

Secure messages

Send non-urgent questions to the medical team while signed in. UofL says replies generally arrive within 1-3 business days.

Prescription renewals

Request renewal of medications that are eligible for MyChart refill/renewal workflows.

Health summary

Review portions of the UofL Physicians electronic medical record available through MyChart.

Billing

Review UofL Physicians billing information, payment history and eligible payment-plan tools.

Result timing is not identical for every test. UofL says most labs can appear immediately, while imaging and certain sensitive results can take several days. If a test does not appear, first confirm whether it belonged to a UofL Physicians/outpatient record or to a hospital record that may be in MyHealthNow.

Do not use MyChart messages for urgent problems. UofL Health says portal messages generally receive a response in 1-3 business days. Contact the appropriate medical service if the issue cannot wait, and call 911 for an emergency.

Appointments, e-Check-In and Finding Care

UofL Health says MyChart can schedule appointments with participating UofL Physicians providers, show upcoming visits and let patients complete selected paperwork before arriving.

Schedule care

Sign in and use the appointment area when scheduling is available for the provider or visit type.

Complete e-check-in

UofL specifically promotes completing pre-visit tasks and paperwork from home before a UofL Physicians appointment.

Confirm the location

UofL Health has more than 250 physician-practice locations plus hospitals and medical centers, so do not assume a Louisville appointment is at UofL Hospital.

Downtown travel note: UofL Health currently warns that I-65 Central Corridor construction can affect travel to its Downtown Medical Campus. If your appointment is downtown, allow extra travel time and check the current UofL Health traffic/parking notice before leaving.

UofL Telehealth: MyChart Is Not the Video Platform

UofL Health promotes telehealth alongside MyChart, but its current telehealth workflow uses Zoom. That distinction matters: your patient portal may help connect you with care, while the actual video session arrives through the telehealth appointment link.

Schedule the telehealth appointment

UofL Health currently lists 502-588-4343 for telehealth scheduling, or you can contact the UofL Physicians office directly.

Watch for the appointment email

UofL says the provider’s office sends an email containing the link for the Zoom session.

You do not need a Zoom account

UofL’s instructions say you can join using the appointment link, enter your full name and allow camera/audio access.

Enter the virtual waiting room

Staff and the provider join you from the secure virtual waiting room when the appointment begins.

Official UofL Health Telehealth Video

UofL Health embeds this Vimeo video on its official telehealth page under “What can I expect during my telehealth appointment?” It is included here because it comes directly from UofL Health’s own patient guidance—not from an unofficial portal tutorial.

This video is for telehealth orientation. For account signup, login recovery, billing or proxy access, use the live UofL Health MyChart pages linked elsewhere in this guide.

Medical Records: MyChart Is Not the Complete Official Record

UofL Health’s MyChart terms explicitly say the portal is not the complete or official UofL Health medical record. If you need a formal copy, records for legal use, continuity-of-care transfer or material that is missing from MyChart/MyHealthNow, use Health Information Management.

Formal records request

UofL Health allows hospital, medical-center and UofL Physicians records to be requested using its Medical Records Request Form.

Mail:

Louisville, KY 40202

Fax: 502-627-1806
HIM continuity-of-care phone: 502-217-1900

Checking request status

UofL Health directs medical-record request status questions to COCRequest@UofLHealth.org.

The current official records page says status-request responses are generally received within 48 hours.

Incorrect information in MyChart? UofL’s FAQ says portal information comes from the provider’s electronic medical record. Ask the provider to correct inaccurate medical information rather than trying to edit clinical data yourself in the portal.

Already Have MyChart Somewhere Else? Link the Accounts

UofL Health’s MyChart FAQ says records from another MyChart organization can be linked so you can see health information from multiple organizations in one place. The portal’s linked-account help explains that verification can involve security questions or credentials from the other organization’s portal.

What linked records can help with

  • See medications documented by another linked organization.
  • See allergies and health issues from supported organizations.
  • Jump into an active linked portal account when available.
  • Reduce confusion when care spans several health systems.

What linking does not guarantee

A linked organization may expose only selected data unless you also have an active portal account there. Messaging, test results, scheduling and appointment functions can still require signup with that organization.

Proxy Access: Child, Teen, Spouse and Caregiver Rules

UofL Health tells families to use proxy access rather than sharing passwords. The details are more nuanced for minors than a generic “parent access” rule.

Parent or guardian access

UofL says parents and legal guardians can request access to a child’s record. Legal guardians may be asked to provide supporting documentation.

Patients age 13 and older

UofL’s current MyChart FAQ says patients age 13 or older may use Health → Share My Record → Friends and family access to invite someone to help manage their care.

Important nuance: UofL’s legal MyChart terms say personal portal accounts are intended for adults or legally emancipated minors, and that proxy access to an unemancipated minor’s information may be limited by Kentucky privacy and consent rules. Because the FAQ and legal terms address different access situations, a parent or teen with a specific access question should confirm the exact permission with the clinic or MyChart Patient Support at 502-588-7005.

Do not send a question about a spouse, child or other family member from your own chart. UofL warns that information about another person can become part of the wrong patient’s record and potentially affect medical care.

UofL MyChart Mobile App

UofL Health’s MyChart FAQ supports Epic’s standard MyChart mobile app. Hospital users on MyHealthNow use a different app ecosystem, so install the app that matches your portal.

UofL Physicians MyChart

Use Epic’s official MyChart mobile app and connect it to UofL Health.

Hospital MyHealthNow

UofL Health directs registered MyHealthNow users to the HealtheLife app rather than Epic MyChart.

Wrong app = missing information

If UofL Hospital results are absent from MyChart, the problem may be that the hospital encounter belongs in MyHealthNow—not that your MyChart account is malfunctioning.

Billing: UofL Physicians MyChart Bill or UofL Health Hospital Bill?

UofL Health separates professional UofL Physicians billing from hospital/facility billing. Use the name on the statement before choosing a payment portal.

Choose the payment route by bill type

What is a guarantor? UofL’s MyChart Guest Pay page defines the guarantor as the person responsible for paying the bill. The guarantor name and account number are printed on the statement. One patient may also have multiple visit accounts with separate balances.

Paperless UofL Physicians statements: MyChart users receive electronic statements by default. UofL’s FAQ says you can change billing notifications in MyChart Communication Preferences if you want paper statements.

Financial Assistance, Price Transparency and Good Faith Estimates

Hospital financial assistance

UofL Health’s current financial-assistance program is aimed at qualifying uninsured or underinsured patients receiving non-elective care.

The public policy page states that the program is designed for qualifying households with financial resources/income at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level, subject to the full policy and application review.

Questions: 502-681-1440

Price transparency

UofL Health publishes facility price lists and shoppable-service resources. Hospital charges shown in those files do not automatically equal the amount an insured patient owes, and professional/physician fees may be separate.

Good Faith Estimate: UofL Health says uninsured patients—or patients not using insurance for scheduled non-emergency care— have federal rights to an expected-cost estimate. UofL also says any patient may request an estimate for ordered, scheduled or referred non-emergency care.

UofL’s current No Surprises notice says that if a bill is at least $400 above the Good Faith Estimate, a federal dispute process may be available. Keep a copy or photo of the estimate.

Three UofL Portal Mistakes Worth Avoiding

1. Assuming missing hospital data means MyChart is broken

Hospital encounters may belong in MyHealthNow. Check the portal type before resetting an account.

2. Paying the wrong UofL bill in the wrong system

Check whether the statement is from UofL Physicians or a UofL Health facility before paying.

3. Using another patient’s chart for messages

Use proxy access so questions and replies land in the correct medical record.

UofL MyChart Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is UofL MyChart the portal for UofL Hospital?

Not usually for the hospital facility record. UofL Health says MyChart is mainly for UofL Physicians and many outpatient services, while UofL Hospital and the listed UofL Health hospitals/medical centers use MyHealthNow. Some patients may need both portals.

2. What is the official UofL MyChart login website?

The official UofL Health MyChart portal is mychart.uoflhealth.org. Use that site for UofL Physicians MyChart login, signup, recovery and eligible physician billing.

3. How long does a UofL MyChart activation code last?

UofL Health’s current MyChart FAQ says an activation code or activation link expires after 30 days and becomes invalid after the first successful use.

4. How long can UofL MyChart online signup take?

If instant identity verification does not complete the process, UofL Health says the request can take up to one week for processing and verification before an activation code is sent.

5. Why are my UofL Hospital test results missing from MyChart?

UofL Hospital uses the MyHealthNow hospital portal. If the test came from the hospital, emergency department, radiology department or another listed hospital-based service, check MyHealthNow before treating the issue as a MyChart login problem.

6. When do UofL Physicians test results appear in MyChart?

UofL says most routine laboratory results can appear immediately when sent to the provider. Some imaging studies, x-rays and sensitive laboratory tests may take about 2-7 days.

7. How quickly should I expect a reply to a UofL MyChart message?

UofL Health says replies generally arrive within 1-3 business days. Do not use MyChart messaging for urgent or emergency medical problems.

8. Can I pay a UofL Physicians bill without signing in?

Yes. UofL Health MyChart provides Pay as Guest for eligible UofL Physicians balances. Hospital/facility bills use the separate UofL Health facility-payment routes, so check the statement name first.

9. Can I see my child’s or spouse’s UofL MyChart record?

Yes, when the appropriate proxy access is approved. UofL’s FAQ says patients age 13 or older may use Share My Record and Friends and Family Access, while legal terms impose additional privacy limits for unemancipated minors. Each adult should use their own account rather than share a password.

10. Why does UofL MyChart keep logging me out?

UofL Health says MyChart automatically logs users out after about 15 minutes of keyboard inactivity. This is a privacy/security feature; sign in again if the session timed out.
